A judge has bound 12 municipal police officers in Acambay to process for their alleged involvement in an armed attack on state and federal forces, resulting in one death.


12 Acambay Police Officers Charged with Aggression Against Forces

A control judge determined to bind to process 12 elements of the Acambay Municipal Police, investigated for their probable participation in an armed aggression against state and federal forces. The General Prosecutor's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) reported that the officers face charges for the crimes of aggravated homicide and aggravated homicide in degree of attempt. According to the official communiqué issued by the institution, the judicial authority analyzed the evidence provided by the Public Ministry and resolved to initiate the legal process against the local public servants. The accused were identified as Carlos Alberto 'N', Carlos 'N', Pedro Antonio 'N', Edwin Saúl 'N', Rigoberto 'N', Guillermo 'N', Atanasio 'N', Iván 'N', Leonardo 'N', Roberto 'N', Elizabeth 'N' and María Isabel 'N'. The facts attributed to them occurred on November 22 in the Rincón del Juando community, in the municipality of Acambay. According to the Prosecutor's Office, state and federal security elements went to the area 'following a report of car theft'. It was in this context that, allegedly, the municipal police opened fire on the officers of the other corporations. The state agency specified that 'as a result of this, one element lost his life and four more were injured' by firearm shots. After their detention, the 12 implicated were admitted to the Penitentiary and Social Reintegration Center of the zone and made available to the Judge. In the corresponding hearing, in addition to the binding to process, the Judicial Authority imposed the precautionary measure of justified preventive prison and set a two-month deadline for the closure of the complementary investigation.
