Prisoners Escape in Angostura Triggers Investigation

Authorities are investigating the escape of four inmates from the Central-Northern Justice Center in Angostura, Sinaloa. Three of the fugitives faced charges of kidnapping, and the fourth faced a charge of qualified homicide. It was determined that the inmates escaped after just one week in prison.

Initially, it was suspected that the escape occurred during a transfer, but it was later confirmed that the evasion took place within the prison facilities. It is presumed that the inmates managed to escape by exploiting a breach in the surveillance system, indicating detailed planning and revealing failures in the internal procedures of the prison.

The fugitives were identified as Ángel Irán “A”, Javier Alfonso “L”, José Juan “L”, and Eleazar Guadalupe “C”. During the escape, the inmates managed to disarm a guard of a long weapon, which has raised questions about security and the possible complicity of third parties in the incident.

Authorities immediately activated a search operation involving the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, the Secretariat of the Navy, as well as state and municipal police. The recovery of the weapon taken during the escape reinforces ongoing investigations into possible failures in the security of the penitentiary center and the complicity of others in the escape.

Meanwhile, the internal conditions of the prison are being reviewed to determine the causes of the evasion and establish responsibilities among the prison staff. The hypothesis of a struggle with police upon arrival at the prison has gained traction, as the inmates managed to evade surveillance despite their recent admission to the penitentiary.
