National Guard Deploys Forces in Anáhuac

Elements of the National Guard are already deployed in the municipality of Anáhuac to carry out patrol and surveillance activities, as part of the agreement between Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and U.S. President Donald Trump. Mexico committed to sending a total of 10,000 personnel as part of the Northern Border Operation to combat drug trafficking, especially fentanyl, and to prevent the passage of migrants to the United States. At this time, 623 personnel are positioned at strategic points near the Rio Bravo, where illegal activity is concentrated.

The National Guard personnel patrol both main highways and secondary roads, paying special attention to areas near the river, which represent an important crossing point for undocumented migrants seeking to reach the United States. This deployment was carried out after Sheinbaum agreed to Trump's request in exchange for temporarily suspending tariffs on Mexican products.

Regarding the local reaction, Miguel Ángel Flores, coordinator of the Ciudadano Movement group in Congress, welcomed the arrival of the National Guard in Nuevo León and emphasized that this measure will significantly contribute to strengthening security in the state. Flores mentioned that the State Government has already implemented the Muralla Operation to protect the border with Tamaulipas, and the presence of the National Guard will complement the efforts of the Civil Force.

The coordinator of the Ciudadano Movement emphasized that these joint actions can only translate into one thing: more security for Nuevo León. He also highlighted that Sheinbaum's strategy, by strengthening security and temporarily suspending tariffs, will greatly benefit Nuevo León. He also stressed the importance of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States, and Canada for state exports and reaffirmed his commitment from the Nuevo León Bench to support any measure that promotes economic growth and security in the region.
