According to the Michoacán FGE, the attack occurred when the personnel were returning to their duties after their rest period.

The institution confirmed that the elements were unarmed at the time of the aggression.

The expert died at the scene, while an agent from the Investigation Police was injured.

The Attorney General's Office indicated that the agent's injuries are not life-threatening.

Following the events, state and federal authorities activated an operation to locate the responsible parties in this area of Michoacán, considered a priority in terms of security.

The FGE reported that the attack occurred at a intersection leading to Huizontla.

The personnel were traveling in a private vehicle.

The institution stated that it was a direct aggression.

After the attack, the Attorney General's Office deployed an operation with the support of the Navy Secretariat, the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard, and the state Public Security Secretariat.

According to reports, behind the attack is Abraham Jesús Ambriz Cano, "El Yogurt", leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), who appeared on the list of wanted persons of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho".
