A presumed Dutch drug trafficker, Marco Ebben, linked to the drug lord Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada and wanted by Europol, was killed this Thursday in the municipality of Atizapán de Zaragoza, in the State of Mexico. The crime occurred around noon in the parking lot of Fraccionamiento Real Antigua, located in Zona Esmeralda, a luxury housing development in that entity.

Ebben, who was known for faking his death several times to evade justice and his enemies, was on Europol's most wanted list. Authorities stated that the subject had ties to drug lord Zambada and was involved in drug trafficking in several European countries.

The Dutch drug trafficker had been missing for several months and, according to investigations, was last seen in Culiacán, Sinaloa, in September or October, where he was shot at.

Regarding this incident, violence in Sinaloa, especially in Culiacán, has been increasing since September 2024, with over 800 homicides. This increase is attributed to the confrontation between the criminal cells of Los Chapitos and Los Mayos, following the extradition to the United States of the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, 'El Mayo' Zambada.
