Natanael Cano Sparks Controversy at Carnival Concert

The singer of corridos tumbados, Natanael Cano, is again at the center of controversy. This time, during his performance at the Carnival of Autlán de Navarro in Jalisco, he mentioned the names of some drug traffickers, including Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias 'El Mencho', leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. This act of directly mentioning these figures was not well received by some of his followers.

This episode raised concerns about the artist's safety, given that earlier this year Natanael Cano had received threats from criminal groups. Despite this, the singer has not publicly addressed this situation on his digital platforms. It is worth mentioning that at a concert in Sonora in 2023, Natanael Cano had already refused to perform the song 'Cuerno Azulado' for fear of risking his integrity.

The singer's repertoire includes songs where he mentions figures from drug trafficking, such as Rafael Caro Quintero, a prominent drug trafficker currently extradited to the United States, mentioned in the song 'Me gusta lo caro, wey.' Furthermore, in collaboration with Gabito Ballesteros in 'LOU LOU', Natanael Cano makes an allusion to Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes with the phrase 'For the gentleman of the M, here in GDL.' These references to characters linked to organized crime have generated controversy surrounding the artist's song content.
