Attempted Feminicide Against Animal Activist in Cancún

On the morning of October 22, in Cancun, Quintana Roo, activist, animal rescuer, and boxer Aline "La China" González was attacked by two individuals who attempted to set her house on fire. The aggression comes after Aline received threats for her animal rescue work and for having saved a dog from being killed with a machete.

After the dissemination of a video showing the two men on a motorcycle trying to set Aline's home on fire, it was revealed that the activist has suffered attempted rapes. Despite having filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office, no investigations have been initiated for the crime of attempted femicide.

In the video, the attackers are seen wearing skull masks, spraying Aline's house with gasoline, and trying to set the place on fire. After failing in the first attempt, one of the men threw a glass object against the house. The activist has received support and solidarity from the community, which has condemned the attempted femicide of which she was a victim.
