In Guanajuato, a total of 178,000 liters of hydrocarbons from illegal activities were confiscated as part of security operations conducted in different areas of the state. These actions were carried out by the Secretariat of Security and Peace of Guanajuato, in collaboration with the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard, the State Attorney General's Office (FGE), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of the Federal Government.
During the operations to combat fuel theft, clandestine taps and vehicles with illegal loads of hydrocarbons were discovered in various municipalities. In Celaya, for example, a clandestine tap with a pump, hoses, and a jug containing 20 liters of fuel was found on the federal highway 45 libre Celaya-Salamanca. In the Villa Los Álamos neighborhood of the same city, an inspection revealed a pump and extraction hoses inside a blacksmith workshop, which was secured and handed over to Pemex.
In Silao de la Victoria, after a report to 911, a warehouse with clandestine taps for hydrocarbons was discovered in the San Isidro de los Sauces community. Meanwhile, in Abasolo, 20,000 liters of fuel were found in containers inside an empty lot, as well as an active clandestine tap in the Huitzatarito community.
As part of the mobile laboratories operation that verifies the legality of fuel transported on highways, trucks with illicit loads were seized at different points: 76,000 liters of gasoline in Apaseo El Grande, 35,370 liters of asphalt material derived from hydrocarbons in the same municipality, 20,000 liters of gasoline without legal accreditation in Silao-San Felipe, and 27,460 liters of illicit asphalt material in Irapuato.
The drivers of the seized vehicles were made available to the Federal Public Ministry for possible violations of the Federal Hydrocarbons Law, which includes penalties of up to 30 years in prison and hefty fines. Authorities emphasized the importance of anonymous reporting through the number 089 to weaken the financial structures of organized crime and strengthen security in Guanajuato.
