
Raciel López Salazar, attorney general of Quintana Roo, announced the arrest of Luis Fernando "N", known as "Cobra", a former municipal police officer of Tulum, accused of disappearance of persons. The individual is implicated in the disappearance of a construction worker and faces charges for disappearance of persons committed by individuals. A reward of one million five hundred thousand pesos was offered for information leading to his capture.
Luis Fernando's arrest took place in the Nuevo Progreso neighborhood of Chetumal by the Investigation Police. López Salazar indicated that the accused was a priority target in the Crime Atlas of Quintana Roo, having held a high position in the Tulum Public Security Secretariat and allegedly participating in the disappearance of the victim.
In the case of the disappearance, Jeremías, 22 years old, disappeared on July 14, 2023, when a convoy of municipal patrols took him while he was working on a construction site in Tulum. Furthermore, former municipal officer Eligio Ciau Canul is being sought in connection with this crime.
López Salazar highlighted that during the week of January 13 to 19, 34 links to the process were achieved, 29 arrest warrants were issued, and nine search operations were conducted for various crimes. Among the most recurring crimes are rape, qualified homicide, crimes against health (drug dealing), sexual abuse, attempted homicide, personal freedom deprivation, and robbery, among others. The arrests are related to crimes such as attempted qualified homicide, extortion, rape, sexual abuse, disappearance committed by individuals, qualified robbery, among others.
