Body of Man Missing in Mexican Reservoir Found

Authorities in Puebla state confirmed the discovery of a 34-year-old man's body in the Cuautelolulco reservoir. A rescue operation also searched for a missing 17-year-old girl. The government called on citizens to be more cautious near bodies of water.


Body of Man Missing in Mexican Reservoir Found

After several hours of searching, state authorities confirmed the discovery of the body of a 34-year-old man who died by immersion in the Cuautelolulco reservoir, in the municipality of Chignahuapan. The rescue was achieved in the early hours of this Sunday, following the implementation of an aquatic operation by the General Coordination of Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management. However, according to local media reports, the disappearance of a 17-year-old minor, identified as María Yuli, was also reported. She had also been dragged by the current along with the man identified as José Daniel. The operation involved certified divers from the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), as well as elements of the National Guard, State Police, Red Cross, and municipal authorities, who worked together from the moment the disappearance was reported. After locating the body, it was recovered and made available to forensic authorities to carry out the corresponding procedures and accurately determine the cause of death. In light of these events, the State Government reiterated its commitment to the safety of the population, especially during this season when the influx to bodies of water increases. It also called on the population to take extreme precautions when going to reservoirs, rivers, and lagoons, and to follow the authorities' instructions at all times to avoid tragedies.
