José Luis "N", also known as "Junior", was arrested in San Pedro Pochutla, Oaxaca, after committing the heinous crime in Ciudad Juárez against Leticia Guzmán. On March 10, José Luis lured Leticia under the pretext of selling her a microwave and took her to a location where he brutally assaulted her. Using violence, he strangled her, sexually assaulted her, and then attempted to burn her alive, leaving her unconscious in the burning house.
Leticia managed to survive the attack and escape from the burning home in search of help. She was urgently transported to Clinic 66 of the Mexican Social Security Institute, where she is recovering from the injuries and burns suffered during the attempted femicide. The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Attention to Women Victims of Crime has initiated an investigation into the case that identified José Luis as the aggressor responsible for assaulting Leticia.
Family members and civil organizations have provided support to Leticia, disseminating information about José Luis to track his whereabouts. Finally, after almost a month of searching, authorities managed to arrest José Luis in Oaxaca, and he will be transferred to Ciudad Juárez to face charges against him for attempted femicide, rape, and other crimes.
Leticia Guzmán, 33 years old and mother of four children, sells groceries and pet food to support her family. The attack by José Luis, which left her in critical condition, has shocked the local community. Fortunately, her health condition is now stable, thanks to the support received from various organizations and authorities that have accompanied Leticia and her family during this difficult process.
