Vianey Esmeralda and Brayan Gabriel, parents of baby Eitan Daniel, were released after their first hearing in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, after they were accused of being the alleged perpetrators of torturing and murdering their son, who was found inside a bag and among the trash.
The authorities of Chihuahua executed the arrest warrant against both, and after the first hearing held on Saturday, March 21, the alleged perpetrators of Eitan's murder were released pending a new hearing on the next March 25, when their possible linkage to the process will be defined.
As a precautionary measure, they were ordered to sign monthly before the authorities, in addition to an investigation folder being opened for the crime of homicide.
During the respective arrests of Eitan Daniel's parents, coordinated by the State Investigation Agency, attached to the District Prosecutor's Office for the North Zone, and in coordination with the Chihuahua Public Security Secretariat, 19.5 grams of marijuana (from Vianey) and 1.5 grams of cocaine (from Bryan Gabriel) were seized from them.
After the hearing, the judge did not determine the possession of drugs as a serious crime, which is why they will continue their process in freedom, pending the collection of evidence to link them for the alleged murder of their son.
What do we know about the murder of child Eitan Daniel?
Eitan Daniel, one and a half years old, was found dead and inside a bag on a vacant lot in the Kilometer 27 colony on March 10.
The first reports indicate that the cause of his death was a subdural hematoma, that is, the accumulation of blood in the brain, derived from a head injury.
According to information provided by the authorities and reported by N Más, Vianey Esmeralda, his mother, would have traveled about 34 kilometers from her home to the area where she abandoned Eitan Daniel's body in Ciudad Juárez.
Furthermore, there are reports that the baby was allegedly a victim of torture, and that his parents used to tie one of his feet to the bathroom when he asked for food or cried.
Although the causes of his death are still under investigation, it is possible that Eitan Daniel was beaten to death.
After the discovery of Eitan Daniel's body, at least five of his relatives were arrested and subsequently released.
Ericka, Valeria, and Raúl Rosendo were three relatives linked to the murder; however, they were released on March 20 when their relationship to the case could not be proven.
It is expected that the process for the crime of homicide will continue only against their parents.
