Less than a month before the Easter holiday period, the Public Security Secretariat of Tamaulipas is finalizing preparations for the official start of the Heroes Paisanos Easter Operation 2025. Sergio Hernando Chávez García, head of the department, has indicated that they are currently deploying signs to inform motorists about the presence of the State Guard on the state's highways.
The Secretariat operates a network of 25 Safe Stations distributed every 50 kilometers, with around 750 highway support personnel working 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During peak days, an increase in personnel from 43 municipal coordinations is expected to reinforce security at the most important tourist destinations.
There will be inter-institutional collaboration to ensure the safety of caravans of nationals traveling on the highways of Tamaulipas, especially those coming from the United States and Canada. Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism of Tamaulipas, assured in a press conference that the state's roads are 100% safe and that necessary surveillance is provided by different entities.
85% of tourists arriving at Tamaulipas beaches come from Nuevo León, with 60% of this percentage. Among the most popular beaches in southern Tamaulipas are Playa Miramar, Playa Bagdad, Playa Barra del Tordo, Playa Dunas Doradas, and Playa Tesoro.
Playa Miramar, in Ciudad Madero, is known for its more than two kilometers of white sand and its appeal for water sports. Playa Bagdad in Matamoros is ideal for water sports and fishing, while Playa Barra del Tordo is a natural sanctuary for the Olive Ridley turtle and a popular camping spot.
Playa Dunas Doradas, located in Altamira, stands out for its golden sands, dunes, and the possibility of off-roading in 4x4 vehicles, just 10 minutes from Playa Miramar. Lastly, Playa Tesoro in Altamira is recognized for its soft sand, crystal-clear waters, and steep slope, making it a famous destination in the region.
