On Tuesday afternoon, a robbery was reported at the Bizzarro jewelry store located in the Cosmopol shopping plaza in Coacalco, State of Mexico. The criminals used hammers to break the glass of the counters and steal some products, in an act that involved alleged detonations of firearms, although no arrests have been made so far.
Bizzarro is a well-known jewelry store with over 130 branches in the country, offering a wide variety of products including rings, necklaces, charms, and watches from prestigious brands such as Rado and Bulova, with prices reaching up to 85,000 pesos.
The authorities of Coacalco, the shopping plaza, and the State of Mexico have remained silent regarding the robbery, as well as the possible loot of stolen jewelry during the incident. Some witnesses mentioned being held in nearby stores to the robbed jewelry store, which closed their doors as a security measure after the altercation.
In May, a branch of Bizzarro in Apatzingán, Michoacán, was also a victim of robbery. This latest incident adds to previous violent events in the Cosmopol plaza, where in September a corpse was found inside an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot, prompting an investigation by the State of Mexico Prosecutor's Office.
Currently, information is being developed about the robbery at the Bizzarro jewelry store and the efforts of the authorities to clarify what happened.
