The Attorney General's Office (FGR) reported that so far, the bodies of five of the ten miners who were kidnapped in the municipality of Concordia, Sinaloa, have been found. According to the FGR, the bodies of five miners who were killed after being victims of kidnapping were located in one of the clandestine graves found in the area of El Verde, Concordia municipality. The prosecutor's office added that the discovery is the result of search and rescue operations that federal forces launched last week to try to locate the 10 workers from the Canadian mining company Vizsla Silver. The FGR also stated that in the same location, another five bodies related to the case were found, but the identification of those five bodies is still pending to confirm that the remains correspond to the other five miners. The agency added that the operation was possible thanks to the permanent coordination with the Government's Security Cabinet, including elements from the FGR's Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of National Defense (SRE), and the National Guard (GN). Following criticism of the opacity of the investigations, the Prosecutor's Office defended its actions and the little information it has provided publicly, arguing that families must first be notified of any progress in the investigation. “It is important to mention that the authority has maintained contact with the victims' families, and in the cases where the bodies have already been identified, they will be transferred to the states of Zacatecas in two cases, as well as to Chihuahua, Sonora, and Guerrero,” the FGR stated in a press release. The FGR's investigation is being handled by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO), which is carrying out all the necessary procedures to ensure that the facts are not left unpunished.
