Cuajinicuilapa's Mayor Seeks Temporary License

Hildeberto Salinas Mariche, mayor of the municipality of Cuajinicuilapa, has requested a temporary license from the Guerrero Congress, just four weeks after taking office, to which he was elected by the Green Party of Mexico (PVEM).

The license request came after a series of armed confrontations in Cuajinicuilapa, located in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero, as well as the murder of public transport leaders in the municipal seat.

Following an incident on October 18 where gunfire was reported near the mayor's residence, rumors about his assassination circulated, which were later denied by the PVEM through a statement.

Sources within the Guerrero Congress confirmed that Salinas presented his license request last Friday to the Secretariat of Parliamentary Affairs. Now, the document must be reviewed in the next Plenary session scheduled for Thursday, October 31.

It is rumored that the pressure from a criminal group in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero may have been the reason behind Salinas's license request, and it is expected that a councilor will also resign from her position to allow the Congress to call substitutes and ensure the continuity of governmental responsibilities in the region.
