A freight train collided with a tourist bus on Sunday afternoon on the San Pedro-Cuatro Ciénegas highway in Coahuila. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but several passengers were seriously injured. According to the newspaper Zócalo, the accident occurred at kilometer 5 of highway 30 when the bus driver attempted to beat the train, leading to the vehicle being struck and dragged several meters before overturning on its side.

A total of 23 people, including some minors, were injured in the accident. Authorities reported that the victims were taken to the IMSS Clinic in Monclova, where 10 of the injured were treated for more severe injuries, while the rest received attention at local clinics.

In the accident, the bus passengers who were traveling from Querétaro to Cuatro Ciénegas to enjoy tourist destinations such as the Poza Azul and the Yeos Dunes were involved in the collision with the train. A video circulating on social media shows the exact moment of the collision, where the bus is seen crossing the railway and being hit by the train.

After the impact, several emergency services such as the Red Cross, Basic Emergency Group, SAMU, Civil Protection, and firefighters from different municipalities arrived at the scene of the accident to rescue passengers trapped in the overturned vehicle and provide medical attention to the injured. At least 15 ambulances were deployed to address the emergency. So far, there is no information on whether the bus driver was arrested.
