Mexico City: Cuauhtémoc Mayor Launches Platform to Fight Fake News

The mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, denied, this Wednesday, irregularities in the awarding of contracts of her administration and launched a digital page called "Truth Platform" that will seek to discredit "fake news" about her government. "The news is not surprising because there was an alliance with organized crime", fired the councilwoman and added: "Why are no investigations carried out? When they cannot handle work, they try with noise", she added by denouncing a series of fake news that have circulated in recent days and that, according to the platform she presented, are already at least 46, although she anticipated that said number will increase in the coming weeks. She also denied irregularities in the awarding of contracts that her administration provided during the last days and assured that the supposedly involved companies have the validation of the central government and appear approved in the Tianguis Digital, the platform of service providers of the capital government. In this regard, she encouraged the Comptroller to investigate her government, as the ruling party had anticipated: "You will not find anything, they want to divert attention from what is wrong". This Wednesday, Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega had a blood test to deny the use of drugs. On the other hand, the mayor again pointed to her predecessor, Sandra Cuevas, who again remained in controversy after Benoni Fernández, also known as "El Benoni", was arrested, who was linked to process for the crimes of bribery and drug trafficking. "Breaking with old politics and destroying a corrupt system bothers a lot", she assured at a press conference. In this framework, the mayor denounced a "systematic campaign of fake news and digital attacks" against her administration, so she presented the "Truth Platform", which will aim to contrast the fake news that is spread about her government and present truthful evidence about the same to dismantle the accusations. In total, it was the third criminal who maintained a close relationship with the former mayor. "It hurts them that there is a government and that Cuauhtémoc has direction and results. Why does she now support the government that she attacked so much?" As LPO recounted, the first was "El Choko", accused of being the leader of the criminal group "La Chokiza"; and the second, Giovanni "N", presumed leader of the Unión Tepito. With this context, Rojo de la Vega stated that she does not know if the prosecutor of CDMX, Bertha Alcalde, is investigating the 41 complaints she presented against the former mayor and stated that her administration "did what was in her hands". For example, this Wednesday a blood test was carried out to prove that she does not consume drugs, as it circulated on social networks in recent days. The PAN points to the funds of the Utopias and Brugada prepares inaugurations. "They don't care about using public money to attack a mayor, but we are going to defeat them with transparency and with the support of the people", assured Rojo de la Vega, who maintains that "the people are tired of defamation and double standards".
