The mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, accompanied by Claudia Ramírez del Palacio, executive president of CANIRAC, and Jack Sourasky Olmos, president of CANIRAC Mexico City, announced the implementation of 100 Violet Points in various spaces of the local administration. Rojo de la Vega stated that in Cuauhtémoc, women are not alone and that her government will take all necessary measures to protect and support them.

In this regard, an agreement was signed with CANIRAC for 186 restaurants in the municipality to become safe spaces for women. Jack Sourasky Olmos highlighted the importance of restaurants providing protection and support to women, beyond just being places for socializing.

The first Violet Point was established at the restaurant “Lo de Julio,” marking the beginning of a protection network. These establishments will have trained staff in gender perspective to act with empathy and effectiveness should a woman need assistance. The Cuauhtémoc municipal government will provide the necessary signage to identify the Violet Points, as well as support and guidance to the participants.

The Violet Points are safe places for information and immediate action in cases of gender violence. The mayor explained that women can approach for information, shelter in case of emergency, or help while waiting for the relevant authorities, such as police, paramedics, lawyers, and psychologists as needed.

Alessandra Rojo de la Vega emphasized that violence against women is a complex problem that requires a comprehensive and coordinated response. For its part, CANIRAC CDMX committed to promote the program among its members, train its staff, and ensure compliance with the established norms in this support program for women in situations of gender violence.
