Ebrard Highlights Importance of Economic Integration

The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, during the morning conference, praised the work of President Claudia Sheinbaum for the agreement reached with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to suspend trade tariffs for one month. Ebrard highlighted that he will soon present arguments that demonstrate that the competitiveness of the U.S. economy is greatly benefited by the industrial plants in Mexico.

In his statements, Ebrard mentioned that he had a meeting with executives from major automotive companies worldwide, where the possibility of relocating plants was discussed. As a result, it was pointed out that the most prominent automotive plant in the world is located in Cuautitlán Izcalli, where the Ford Mustang E is produced. This model competes with vehicles made in China and is exported to demanding countries like Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.

The official also emphasized the relevance of the plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, and the growing integration of Mexico into the aerospace industry. Ebrard highlighted that the country currently produces everything from simple parts to complex alloys made from titanium and other minerals that require high temperatures and rigorous specifications.

Ebrard warned about the increase in costs and loss of competitiveness in the region in the event of a breakdown in commercial integration. In this sense, he expressed confidence that the arguments presented by Mexico will be heard in the United States, emphasizing that the trilateral relationship between Mexico, the United States, and Canada allows for the best product to compete globally.

The Secretary of Economy stressed the importance of defending economic integration for the benefits it brings to the involved countries, noting that it is the most convenient for both. Ebrard expressed optimism that the Mexican arguments will be considered by U.S. authorities, highlighting the importance of maintaining the trade relationship between the involved countries.
