A new case of robbery in Mexico has raised alarms about the insecurity faced by citizens in various regions of the country. Carlos Cuevas, a famous singer known as the 'King of Bolero,' was the victim of an armed robbery while inside a pharmacy in Cuernavaca on January 23 around 11:30 in the morning.
In a story shared on social media, Cuevas explained that two armed individuals entered the establishment and, despite not resisting, he was hit in the head by the criminals. The singer lamented the situation, highlighting that both he and another customer lost their belongings in the incident. Although he suffered injuries, Cuevas received medical attention and is out of danger.
This episode adds to other recent cases of robberies affecting artists in Mexico. Last July, Samo from Camila revealed that he had been robbed in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City. Additionally, in May 2023, Los Recoditos reported an attempted robbery while traveling on the Mexico-Morelia highway, where a vehicle fired at the bus they were in.
In light of the increasing incidence of robberies, the National Technological Institute of Mexico advises victims to remain calm and hand over their belongings without resistance during a robbery. Subsequently, it is recommended to file a complaint with the competent authorities to initiate an investigation into the crime.
Despite the difficult situation, Carlos Cuevas expressed feeling insecure after the robbery and stated his reluctance to file a formal complaint out of fear of reprisals, suggesting a lack of trust in the actions of local and state authorities.
