The former footballer and current deputy of Morena, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, is in the midst of a controversy after being accused of money laundering and nepotism since last year. On February 6, prosecutor Uriel Carmona publicly requested the removal of Blanco in order to present evidence.
In a press conference held on February 7, Cuauhtémoc Blanco defended himself against the accusations made by Uriel Carmona, who was recently removed as head of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Morelos. Blanco labeled the allegations against him as a "political persecution."
In October 2025, the former governor of Morelos received a complaint for attempted rape filed by his half-sister, Blanca Fabiola. On that same day, he was removed from his position as attorney general by the Congress of Morelos. The governor of Morelos, Margarita González Saravia, denied any connection between the removal and the dismissal.
Cuauhtémoc Blanco defended himself before the media by denying the charges of rape and referring to extortion and threats he has received, including a demand for one million pesos. Blanco concluded by affirming his honesty and his willingness to face the allegations, refusing to be treated as a "piñata" and insisting that he will continue to confront the situation.
