The Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) detected irregularities totaling 2 billion 629 million pesos in the operations of federal funds during the penultimate year of Cuauhtémoc Blanco's administration as governor of Morelos. This amount, although not directly related to the irregularities observed by the ASF, reinforces accusations of corruption and mismanagement of public resources that have marked Blanco's tenure.
Among the observations made, various anomalies were revealed in key areas such as Health, Security, and Infrastructure, raising questions about the proper management of public resources in the entity. The ASF report also highlights the lack of oversight and control in the execution of programs and projects funded with federal funds by the state government.
In January of this year, it was reported that six complaints were being prepared against Blanco's administration for an alleged diversion of 40 million pesos. Additionally, Cuauhtémoc Blanco is in the midst of a process of impeachment due to an alleged sexual abuse, not yet officially initiated. The anomalies detected by the ASF affect various institutions of the government of Morelos, including education organizations and sectors such as health.
Governments are granted a period of 60 days to clarify the anomalies; otherwise, the ASF could file criminal complaints. It is worth mentioning that Mexico City and Querétaro were the only entities without observations during this period. At the national level, irregularities amounting to 22 billion 797 million pesos were identified in 30 federal entities, leading to a thorough review of the financial operations of state governments.
