Former football player and politician Cuauhtémoc Blanco faces a complaint for attempted rape filed by his half-sister, Nidia Fabiola, at the Attorney General's Office of the State of Morelos. The incidents allegedly occurred in late 2023 at Casa Morelos, the official government residence where parties were held with other former players from Club América.
According to the complainant, the alleged attempted rape took place on December 14, 2023, when Blanco, in a drunken state, threw her onto the bed and attempted to strip her of her clothes. Nidia Fabiola expressed that it was difficult for her to process what happened and that deciding to speak about it was a challenging process that left her in shock.
Cuauhtémoc Blanco has denied the allegations against him, defending himself and accusing Nidia of extortion for allegedly asking him for one million pesos to withdraw the complaint. He has also stated that he will present an initiative for men to defend themselves against unfounded accusations of sexual abuse.
The Morelos Attorney's Office has requested the Chamber of Deputies to strip Cuauhtémoc Blanco of his immunity. At the parties at Casa Morelos, according to Nidia Fabiola's complaint, various drugs were consumed, there was alcohol, and the presence of sex workers. Family members of Blanco and former footballers, such as Germán Villa and Isaac Terrazas, were present at these events.
Isaac Terrazas and Germán Villa, former players of Club América, later worked with Cuauhtémoc Blanco at the Institute of Sports and Physical Culture of Morelos. The attempted rape complaint has generated controversy, being a delicate episode for the former footballer and politician's career, who has defended himself against the accusations.
