Corruption Investigation Unveils Human Remains in Cuernavaca

The Prosecutor's Office will continue search proceedings at the luxurious residence of Dionicio Emanuel Álvarez Anonales, former director of the Tequesquitengo Lake Trust (Filateq), accused of corruption, aiming to rule out the presence of more bodies, reported Edgar Rolfo Núñez Urquiza, deputy anti-corruption prosecutor. In an interview with the Aristegui Noticias team, Núñez Urquiza provided details about the investigation against the former state official, mentioning that the complaint was received at the end of January 2025.

The arrest warrant against Álvarez Anonales was issued in early March, after he was linked to crimes such as embezzlement and illicit exercise of public functions. A residence in Cuernavaca was located where human skulls and personal items were found that confirmed they belonged to Álvarez. There were also indications of possible practices of santería, although the main focus remains the safeguarding of human remains, as well as blood stains whose nature is pending confirmation.

All necessary procedures will be carried out at the residence, including the examination of pots where human remains were discovered. Illegal operations are suspected, with the sale of land at prices far below their real value. Additionally, the investigation regarding a concert (the purported event of Alejandro Fernández was mentioned) that did not take place, despite approximately 20 million pesos being paid for it, was addressed.

Núñez Urquiza mentioned that a thorough search at the residence is planned with canine teams and probes to survey the ground, which could lead to the opening of new lines of investigation such as the crime of enforced disappearance and concealment of human remains, in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office. Since the beginning of the investigation, irregularities in land sales in the Tequesquitengo area have been documented, leading to the acquisition of considerable evidence regarding the alleged illicit activities of Álvarez Anonales.
