Authorities of the C4 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, have decided to stop monitoring the surveillance cameras to focus on a soccer game. The passion for soccer was stronger than the responsibility to monitor the safety of the citizens in the city.
Images from inside the C4 of Cuernavaca went viral on social media, showing how the authorities preferred to follow a soccer match instead of ensuring the surveillance of the citizenry. The room is shown with three blocks of screens, on the ends the monitors displaying real-time images of Cuernavaca and in the center, projected, the soccer match capturing all the attention.
No official or personnel from the C4 is tracking or monitoring the cameras while the match is being played on the screens. Social media was filled with criticism highlighting that the lack of surveillance could affect the safety of the city. Although the soccer match is not clearly discernible, it was mentioned that the uniforms seemed to be similar to those of Club América.
