The bodies were found alongside an axe and messages related to drug trafficking, pointing to a possible settling of accounts between criminal gangs. According to information provided by state authorities and local media, in the Laguna de Canachi, near the Culiacán-Mazatlán Maxipista, seven bodies were found piled up showing evident signs of extreme violence. A narco-related message, which has not yet been officially detailed, was located at the site. In the town of El Carrizalejo, two more bodies with signs of violence were found, while the seventh corpse was discovered in El Trébol de la Costa Rica. The graphic images of these findings have sparked debate about the serious insecurity situation facing Sinaloa.
