Demands for Security Rise in Culiacán

On January 27, businessman and politician Manuel Clouthier blamed Governor Rubén Rocha Moya for an arson attack on his company's offices and an excavator in Sinaloa. This incident occurred after he expressed his support for a march against Rocha due to insecurity in Culiacán. Clouthier questioned whether this was an attack by organized crime or an attempt at government censorship due to his criticisms of insecurity in Sinaloa.

In an interview, Manuel Clouthier indicated that the attack on his business aimed to silence him and intimidate people to prevent them from participating in marches against violence and Rocha's government. He also accused the governor of colluding with the cartels and claimed that organized crime supported him in the 2021 elections, making him part of the problem rather than the solution.

For her part, Tatiana Clouthier supported the protests in Sinaloa and the demonstration of more than 5,000 people demanding the resignation of the state governor. She expressed her support for the citizens and highlighted that Sinaloa has been known for its history of violence, but now the population is demanding change.
