Clashes in Culiacán Leave Several Dead

In Culiacán, a series of clashes between armed groups has resulted in at least five soldiers dead and three men executed. The Armed Forces have reinforced the area following the increase in violence.


Clashes in Culiacán Leave Several Dead

Unofficially, there are reports of a skirmish that took place between armed civilians who roamed several streets in the municipality confronting each other. On the morning of this Thursday, state police found three men executed by gunfire semi-covered with a white tarp on the outskirts of the El Carrizalejo Cemetery, along the Culiacán highway.

In this conflict, at least five military personnel are reported dead in clashes with alleged criminals, as well as an undetermined number of wounded. Following the arrival of a company from the Armed Forces to the municipality of Eldorado, a shootout broke out in which residents broadcast the shooting on social media during the night of Wednesday.

Military personnel arrived on a National Guard aircraft and took shelter in the barracks of the Ninth Military Zone and El Sauz. This is the second Special Forces company to arrive in Sinaloa in the context of the conflict between Los Chapitos and La Mayiza for control of the territory in the central and southern zones of the state.

In the community of El Carrizalejo, seven bodies have been found this week, all located next to the cemetery. A contingent of 100 Special Forces personnel arrived in Culiacán on the night of Wednesday, November 13.
