The Secretary of the Navy, Raymundo Pedro Morales, met with the governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, to strengthen the presence of the Mexican Navy in that state. This meeting marked the eighth encounter of the Admiral Secretary with governors, after having previously met with the governors of Tamaulipas, Guerrero, Baja California, Colima, Sonora, and Puebla.

Following a violent day that left the discovery of 14 bodies of murdered individuals, 10 of them in various locations in Culiacán, this meeting took place. In recent hours, a joint operation of the Navy with other federal forces led to the capture of Omar Félix Loaiza, known as 'El 8' or 'El Pelón,' an alleged leader of 'Los Chapitos' who coordinated attacks against 'Los Mayos' in the region. According to official investigations, this leader of 'La Chapiza' in Sonora was planning attacks with drones loaded with explosives, making his capture crucial.

The Navy Secretary stated that these meetings with governors reinforce the commitment of the agency to protect national maritime interests and collaborate with local authorities in all states with beaches, ports, and coasts. The institution is a strategic ally in terms of maritime security and national protection, working closely with all three levels of government.

The governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, announced that Navy personnel will join a special operation to enhance security in the state. This initiative aims to ensure an effective response to challenges that may arise along the country's coasts and strengthen cooperation with federal, state, and municipal authorities. Inter-institutional collaboration on security and maritime protection issues is highlighted as a priority for the Navy Secretary, recognizing that only through a joint effort can a positive impact be achieved in resolving the problems affecting coastal communities and the country as a whole.
