The restaurant 'Mar and Sea' opened its doors in 2001 in Sinaloa, operating for over 20 years. After changing owners, improvements were made to the premises and the quality standards of its menu were raised, including shrimp tacos and lobsters in the offering.
Mar and Sea is known for having been frequented by Emma Coronel, the wife of 'El Chapo' Guzmán, and for being a place of interest for members of the Sinaloa Cartel. It has even been associated with events such as the capture of 'El 200' and the escape of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, son of the famous drug trafficker, who escaped dressed as a waiter.
The restaurant, recognized in Culiacán for its variety of seafood ranging from ceviches to lobsters, offers a relaxed atmosphere and private rooms for special events. After an operation in 2014, where armed individuals were spotted, 'El Chapito' managed to escape dressed as a waiter, avoiding capture, although authorities seized luxury vehicles and supplies.
Regarding prices, dishes at 'Mar and Sea' vary in cost, from shrimp toasts at 139 pesos to lobsters at more than a thousand pesos per kilo. Its menu includes various specialties such as shrimp tacos, fish, and seafood prepared in different ways, as well as drinks and desserts.
The restaurant, which was originally part of a restaurant group and changed owners in 2013, is now owned by three partners, one of whom is Juan Sigfrido Millán Lizárraga, former governor of Sinaloa. With a rich history of unusual events and a varied culinary offering, 'Mar and Sea' remains one of the favorite destinations in Culiacán for enjoying fresh and quality seafood.
