Sinaloa Cartel Leaders Arrested in Culiacán

Federal forces in Sinaloa have detained Israel Vizcarra Beltrán, alias “Palillo”, and his accomplice Alexis Vizcarra Beltrán. They are suspected of leading synthetic drug production and are part of the “Los Mayos” cartel structure. The arrest was made during a joint operation by the Navy and other security agencies.

The operation was carried out by elements of the Navy and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection. According to intelligence work, the structure led by Israel “N” operates in the states of Sinaloa, Sonora, Nuevo León, Hidalgo, Puebla, and the State of Mexico. In addition to its links to organized crime and operations with illicit proceeds, the detainee has an active arrest warrant for criminal association in the state of Guanajuato. Alexis Arnoldo Vizcarra Beltrán, for his part, was pointed out as the second-in-command of the Quilá and El Dorado plazas. The Secretariat of the Navy reported that it will maintain inter-institutional coordination to restore peace in the entity. Authorities identified the first as the alleged plaza boss in the El Dorado area and leader of an organization dedicated to the production of synthetic drugs linked to the “Los Mayos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. The arrest occurred during a land surveillance tour in the “Tierra y Libertad Uno” area, in the municipality of Culiacán. Naval personnel secured a rifle, a short weapon, 220 cartridges of various calibers, approximately one kilogram of presumed drugs, communication equipment, and a vehicle. Both individuals were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, who will determine their legal situation in the coming hours.
