A group of independent boxers has made accusations against the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), alleging corruption and unjustified exclusion in the Conade State Games 2020-2025.
The complaint was made by Daniel Tejeda García, in charge of the Arena Coliseo Cordobés, who detailed that, together with the federation, the participation of these athletes was blocked without offering a valid justification. At the state level, about 350 independent boxers will be affected by this decision, including the city of Córdoba. Last year, 200 independent boxers participated and won medals, and this year they wanted to participate again, but they were excluded without explanations at the Veracruz Institute of Sport, according to what Tejeda told Radio Fórmula Veracruz.
The intervention of Oscar Camacho, president of the federation, worsened the situation by deciding to exclude all independent boxers without giving reasons, which generated frustration and outrage in the local boxing community. The excluded athletes believe they are not being given the opportunity to showcase their talent and compete on equal terms, which they say reflects a level of corruption within the federation.
The boxers accuse Conade of favoring federated athletes and squandering the potential of independents. In addition, they criticize the lack of promotion of an open and transparent competition system by the federation, which prevents them from achieving their sports goals and progressing in their careers. This situation adds to concerns about the loss of international visibility for Mexican boxing, leading many athletes to feel that they are being left behind in the sports arena.
