Mexico Will Defend Sovereignty Against Tariff Threats

The Morena deputy, Ricardo Monreal, during a visit to Durango expressed his concern about the threats of imposing tariffs by President Donald Trump on products entering the United States. Monreal warned that if this threat materializes, Mexico will terminate the T-MEC, as he believes that the trade agreement between the United States, Canada, and Mexico is above the unilateral decisions of any country.

Monreal rejected the 'Stay in Mexico' program implemented by the U.S. government to stop illegal migration, considering it a unilateral imposition that Mexico does not endorse. He also stated that Mexico is experiencing a critical moment due to Trump's hostile policies.

The deputy also spoke out against a possible U.S. military invasion to combat drug cartels in Mexico, defending the country's sovereignty and independence. He affirmed that while organized crime will continue to be fought in Mexico, extraterritorial measures will not be accepted.

Monreal announced that he will meet with the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, to discuss the budgetary issue and take measures to counteract Trump's policies. Ten action points are being developed to address the migration crisis, and the possibility of modifying federal budgets to address the situation is being considered.
