Rescue of Miners Coordinated in Mexico

Authorities are coordinating the rescue operation. Due to the complexity of the tasks, authorities have asked the population to avoid approaching the disaster area to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles and guarantee safety in the zone, while also urging to inform only through official channels. The federal government reiterated its commitment to continue with the rescue work until locating the trapped workers and clarifying the conditions of the accident. Search and rescue work at the Santa Fe mine, in the municipality of El Rosario, Sinaloa, continues without interruption after the collapse of a tailings dam that occurred on March 25, reported the National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC). According to federal authorities, specialized brigades from the Ministry of National Defense and the Sinaloa Mining Company have worked throughout the night exploring the mine's ramps, which remain obstructed by mud. So far, the teams have managed to advance 264 meters by placing wooden planks to stabilize the ground and protect the rescuers. However, upon reaching the point where the possible location of the first worker was estimated, he could not be located. The authorities indicated that the next objective is to continue the exploration along 1.5 kilometers of galleries, maintaining the necessary safety measures to avoid new risks.
