1Fit Closes Operations in Mexico Amid Financial Issues

The membership platform 1Fit recently announced the closure of its operations in Mexico due to financial problems. In a statement, the company explained that it is assessing the situation to find a solution for its clients and employees. The management team is working to manage this phase responsibly.

1Fit had become a popular option for those seeking access to multiple sports disciplines in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Monterrey. It offered access to more than 1,500 studios, including gyms, yoga classes, pilates, swimming, and martial arts. However, the sudden closure left users unable to access the services they had contracted.

According to journalist Jonathan Lomelí, those affected may have been victims of a pyramid scheme. In Guadalajara, for example, 1Fit offered attractive memberships with access to multiple studios for an annual fee of eight thousand 990 Mexican pesos. The abrupt closure of the platform left many users demanding a refund that has not yet been provided.

Additionally, the owners of establishments associated with 1Fit reported a lack of payments since February, which forced them to deny users access when the platform closed. The affected individuals are now planning to file a class-action lawsuit to seek a solution to this situation. On social media, several users have expressed their intention to file complaints with Profeco due to the lack of response from 1Fit.
