Around 150 merchants from Parque Revolución, known as "Red Park" in Guadalajara, have agreed to be relocated to the Tianguis Cultural due to the start of renovation and maintenance work in that space. After various dialogue sessions with the Government of Guadalajara, it was agreed that the sellers would be moved to the Tianguis Cultural to continue their commercial activities in the coming Saturdays. The decision was made considering that this tianguis shares similarities with the types of businesses of the merchants from Red Park.
The merchants submitted a registry to the municipal authorities to expedite the resolution of their relocation, which was responded to by presenting them with several alternatives, with the relocation to the Tianguis Cultural being the proposed temporary solution. Dialogue sessions remain open, and the merchants have been offered the possibility to work in other tianguis in the municipality or transition to formal commerce in municipal markets.
The Government of Guadalajara is intervening in Parque Revolución with maintenance and renovation actions in preparation for the 2026 World Cup and the FIFA Fan Fest, where the city will be a host. The planned investment for this intervention is 23 million pesos and it is estimated to last approximately five months. Among the scheduled actions are the maintenance of pergolas, public transportation bays, and the inspection of hydraulic lines and pumps to ensure the optimal functioning of the fountains.
Juan Carlos Arauz, director of Public Works, reported on the work that will be carried out in Parque Revolución in the coming months, highlighting the importance of these actions for preparing the space as a venue for international sporting events.
