Free License Plate Exchange in Jalisco to End

The Government of the State of Jalisco, through the Ministry of Finance, is calling on taxpayers who paid their 2025 vehicle renewal fee in the same year to complete the license plate exchange process. The free license plate exchange, which was part of the '3x1 Package' program, will end when the three-month extension in 2026 concludes. After this, the procedure will become paid. No appointment is necessary to exchange license plates. Individuals can go directly to any collection office in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) or in other municipalities in the state with the required documentation. It should be noted that in the state's interior municipalities, service is provided from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00 hours. Failure to complete the process may result in sanctions from the State Traffic Police in accordance with current regulations. State authorities reiterated the call to complete the process within the established deadline to avoid additional costs. What are the requirements for changing license plates? To make the exchange, the following documentation must be presented: payment for the 2025 renewal, made in the same year; the old set of license plates with the 'Collage' or 'Cabañas' design; a valid official ID (INE, license, or passport), in original and copy; a document proving vehicle ownership, in original and copy; a proof of address no older than 90 days, in original and copy.
