In August, the company Liverpool, which already had a presence in Mexico City, inaugurated its first car dealership in Guadalajara, located in GalerÃas Santa Anita. This move marks a shift in the strategy of the Mexican company in 2024, which currently shows renewed optimism regarding car sales.
At the beginning of the same year, Enrique Guijosa, the company's leader, expressed his disappointment with the results of 2023, when they only managed to sell around 350 vehicles, a number far below their initial expectations. Guijosa mentioned to analysts that this was significantly below what was anticipated when launching the new vehicle offerings.
In a statement, it was highlighted that BYD is one of the most important distributors of the Chinese automotive brand BYD in Mexico. During the last quarter, Liverpool reported that it sold 1,300 units, bringing the total to 3,200 cars since they began distributing them in the country. Its current sales pace is 14 cars daily, a number similar to the sales volume of Volvo across all its agencies in Mexico.
Regarding offers, Liverpool has aggressive promotions, such as a compact Dolphin Mini model given as a gift when purchasing another more expensive electric vehicle. These marketing strategies have contributed to the success of the Chinese brand BYD in Mexico, which was little known in the country a few years ago. Part of this growth is attributed to Warren Buffet’s investment in the company in 2008, betting on the future of electric cars.
BYD has managed to surpass Tesla in the global market with its vehicles referencing ancient Chinese dynasties, such as the Tang. The brand has managed to stand out in a highly competitive and constantly evolving market, attracting customers with innovative offers.
