The Government of Guadalajara has announced that it is continuing conservation work in public spaces throughout the municipality. Work has begun at the Plaza de los Mariachi, with the aim of preserving its infrastructure and improving its conditions of use. These actions are aimed at maintaining the space and its physical condition. The work also includes the intervention of the portals, where cleaning, rehabilitation, and fixing of stonework pieces will be carried out, as well as attention to elements with deterioration. As part of the project, missing pieces of black stone and porphyry, materials present in the plaza, will be replaced and installed. The local authorities have indicated that these works are part of a program for intervention in public spaces aimed at addressing the wear and tear derived from continuous use and environmental factors, without modifying the architectural composition of the site. The lighting in the plaza will also be rehabilitated. Priority is given to the conservation of existing materials. Likewise, work will be carried out on adjusting surfaces that show deterioration. "These actions seek to maintain the space and its physical state," the authorities stated.
