Chivas de Guadalajara forward Armando González has spoken out about one of his most well-known nicknames: the "Otaku del gol" (Otaku of the Goal). Initially, it bothered him because he was heavily mocked. "At first, it bothered me a little because they made a lot of fun of me," confessed the player. "They started making fun of me because they said, 'He's an otaku and he doesn't bathe,' and I do bathe." This situation caused discomfort in the early stages of his professional career, as he felt the label did not reflect who he truly is. "I have nothing against otakus, I like Japanese culture, they made a lot of fun of me because they said I was afraid of women," he explained. Over time, perception has changed. Although the nickname became popular among fans and the media, Armando González now takes it more calmly, understanding that many use it out of admiration for his goal-scoring instincts. However, he made it clear that he prefers "Hormiga" (Ant), a nickname that has accompanied him since his formative years and with which he maintains a more authentic connection on and off the field.
