Closure of Televisa Sonora and Guerrero: Financial Crisis

The Televisa Sonora branch, located in Hermosillo, bids farewell to its audience after 45 years on air, with a massive layoff of employees and the dismantling of its facilities. According to information shared on social media and news outlets, at least ten employees were laid off, and this number is expected to increase in the coming weeks. The economic crisis of the local TV station, caused by low viewership due to an editorial line that has not captured the public's attention, is said to be the main reason behind this decision.

Another Televisa branch joining this situation is Televisa Guerrero, based in Acapulco, which has terminated its employment relationship with 12 workers and has begun to dismantle its facilities. Hosts, reporters, cameramen, administrative and cleaning staff were informed last Monday, January 13, about the closure of the branch. The company will only maintain an office for a small group of activities and will distribute national channels 2.1, 2.2, 5.1, and 9.1 from Televisa.

The morning magazine 'Buenos Días Acapulco' will continue to air to meet commercial guidelines but will stop broadcasting in the first week of March. The closure of Televisa Guerrero is due to the restructuring of the company following the union of Televisa and Univision. The news has generated critical comments on social media, where the company's management is questioned, and the loss of jobs in the region is lamented.
