In the municipal seat of Huajicori, Nayarit, this Tuesday, families decided not to send their children to school after human remains were found scattered in various locations. The remains were discovered near the local secondary school, the main square, the multipurpose court, and a business owned by the municipal president, Sergio Rangel.
Some people leaving religious services also witnessed the discovery of the remains and requested that church activities start later as a precautionary measure. Although there is no official information on the matter, some reports suggest that the remains belong to a relative of a local council member.
In Huajicori, since last year there have been reports of armed confrontations, disappearances of people, recruitment, and displacement of communities due to criminal cells associated with the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel fighting for control of the territory. Recently, in San Andrés Milpillas, armed individuals set fire to a Welfare Food truck to prevent food from reaching the area, where shortages have been reported.
Last Friday, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Nayarit reported the discovery of a Sinaloan family that had been reported missing after traveling from Culiacán to Tepic. The family was found dead in a clandestine grave in the locality of Pescadero, municipality of Rosamorada, Nayarit, after they stopped communicating with their acquaintances since early January.
The local attorney's office acknowledged the existence of violent events in the northern part of the state since the second half of 2024 and indicated that security operations are being carried out among various government agencies to address the situation.
