The Attorney General's Office (FGE) confirmed the homicide of the former mayor of Huamuxtitlán, Guerrero, Aurelio Méndez Rosales, after he was kidnapped the day before. Eyewitnesses reported that on the afternoon of Thursday, October 24, armed individuals intercepted the vehicle in which Méndez Rosales was traveling in the center of Huamuxtitlán, shot his driver, and kidnapped him.
The Huamuxtitlán City Council, under the presidency of Daniel Méndez, issued a statement condemning the kidnapping of the former mayor and the murder of his driver. Despite this, the statement did not specify the identity of the victims of this violent act. State authorities were requested to strengthen security in the municipality in the mountainous region, and direct support was requested from the Governor of the State of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, as well as from the State Secretary of Public Security, to restore order and tranquility in the municipal capital.
This morning, the FGE confirmed the homicide of the former official and his driver through an official statement in which it was announced that an investigation file was opened for the crime of aggravated homicide. The names of the victims, Aurelio and Cristo, were mentioned, and it was detailed that an intervention of investigative police was ordered to initiate inquiries and that personnel from Forensic Services was deployed to collect evidence at the crime scene.
Aurelio Méndez finished his term as municipal president on September 30.
