
The former mayor of Huamuxtitlán, Guerrero, Aurelio Méndez Rosales, was murdered, according to the Guerrero Attorney General's Office (FGE). The politician, a member of Morena, was reported missing on October 24, after a group of armed men kidnapped him and killed his driver. The FGE Guerrero has launched an investigation into the homicide of both victims, qualified as such.
The Attorney General's Office reported that "Personnel from FGE Guerrero integrated the investigations for the crime of qualified homicide for the events that occurred in the municipality of Huamuxtitlán, in favor of Aurelio ‘N’ and Cristo ‘N’". Investigative Police (PIM) and forensic experts have been deployed to clarify what happened, while Public Ministry agents have begun the respective investigations.
Aurelio Méndez Rosales had served as the mayor of Huamuxtitlán, Guerrero, for Morena, during the period 2021-2024. The crime has shocked the region, where violence has claimed the lives of several politicians in recent months. Authorities continue to work to clarify this violent event and bring those responsible to justice.
