The head of the Economic Development Secretariat (Sedetra), VĂctor Gabriel Chedraui, announced that the plot of land known as "Cola de Lagarto" will be transformed into the "Gran Valle Puebla Cinco de Mayo" project, located in the municipality of Huaquechula, with an estimated investment of 6 billion pesos. During the press conference led by Governor Alejandro Armenta, the official indicated that the development will be located on state-owned lands covering 300 hectares in the San Lorenzo Tajonar area, of which only 44% will be used, while the rest will remain as a natural reserve. He detailed that the project is in its final planning phase, particularly in the formation of a trust, which, at the investors' request, is being kept under reserve. Chedraui estimated that the scheme to begin its execution could be ready by the end of this month. The project involves a public-private investment of 6 billion pesos and the creation of up to 8,000 direct jobs, as well as more than 12,000 indirect jobs during its construction. The head of Sedetra emphasized that the initiative has already been discussed with both municipal authorities and local residents to prevent discontent during its development. "It is a comprehensive project that covers cultural, tourist, gastronomic, technological, and agro-industrial aspects. It is very ambitious, and we are confident that it will transform the region's tourist offering," he stated. It should be recalled that last December, the state government issued a decree to allocate these lands for the development of the "Cola de Lagarto" project, which includes the construction of a water park, as well as the "Gran Valle Puebla Cinco de Mayo" and a Cultural and Tourist Center.
