Search for missing child in Puebla to continue until April 2026

Authorities in the state of Puebla will continue the search for six-year-old Liam Tadeo, who went missing during the heavy rains recorded last October in Huauchinango. The search will continue until April 2026 in the community of Coacuila. Inter-institutional actions to locate him will include foot patrols and inspections along the banks of the Acatlán River, state authorities reported. The General Coordination of Civil Protection of the State of Puebla stated that the work is carried out jointly with the Search Commission for Missing Persons, Firefighters, security corporations, and Municipal Civil Protection, in accordance with established protocols. The location of the minor and support for his family remain a priority. The minor was reported as missing after the intense rains that affected the region last October, and his home in the Colonia Piedras Pintadas was swept away by a landslide. At the site, his 60-year-old grandmother, María Magdalena, lost her life, and only Gael, Liam's older brother, survived. Since then, brigades have deployed operations in different points; so far, he has not been located, although two of the boy's dress shirts have been found as clues. The boy's mother, Abigaíl Lechuga Sosa, recently informed that the search efforts will continue until next April and thanked the authorities for their support. She stated that, despite the time elapsed, she maintains hope of finding her son and asked that the operations not be suspended until all planned stages are exhausted. She also recognized the support provided by the Municipal Government of Huauchinango during the tours and search actions. According to the operational plan, the brigades will continue working until the end of December; a pause is expected between January and March due to weather conditions. It will not be until April that the work will resume, following the drop in water levels to access different areas, including zones near the Tenango Dam. The municipal president of Huauchinango, Rogelio López Angulo, reiterated that the operation will not be considered concluded and that institutional support for the minor's family will be maintained during the following stages.
