
In the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) of Tuxtpan in Iguala, Guerrero, a riot occurred on February 5 that resulted in four inmates injured, as confirmed by the State Public Security Secretariat of Guerrero (SSPGro). The incident took place during the morning of that Wednesday.
A group of inmates from the male dormitory moved to the common areas around 11:00 am, which led to a confrontation with other inmates at the Cereso in Iguala, Northern Zone of Guerrero. As a result of the fight, four inmates were injured and received medical attention on site.
The authorities reported that the situation was quickly controlled thanks to the intervention of State Police personnel, preventing the riot from spreading to other sections of the prison. It was also ensured that security and governance in the Social Reintegration Centers of Guerrero are guaranteed, protecting the human rights of the inmates in accordance with the penalties imposed for committed offenses.
It is important to remember that on February 3, a security operation took place in the same prison where at least a thousand doses of drugs were seized. The substance, which was found in a bag with a thousand eight packets with characteristics similar to an opioid, was placed at the disposal of the authorities to carry out the relevant investigations.
