Personnel from the Mexican Army and Air Force secured an aircraft and 520 kilograms of cocaine in the municipality of Ixhuatán, in the eastern Isthmus of Tehuantepec. The information was provided by the Secretary of National Defense, which detailed that the aircraft was detected by the National Surveillance Center 'CENAVI' and the intelligence exchange through the Regional Interoperability Conference among Latin American and Caribbean countries.
After monitoring revealed the presence of the aircraft heading to Mexico, three planes and a helicopter from the Mexican Air Force were sent to intercept it, accompanied by a helicopter from the Force in Alert Situation (Fu.S.A.) carrying a reaction force from the Mexican Army. Finally, the aircraft, white with blue stripes and registration N 128 MS, was located on the ground 16 kilometers southwest of San Francisco Ixhuatán, Oaxaca. It is a Cessna 210 aircraft.
Inside the aircraft, 13 packages weighing approximately 40 kilograms each were discovered, containing a white powder consistent with cocaine characteristics. All seized items were made available to the competent authorities to carry out the necessary investigations and forensic actions to confirm the type and quantity of confiscated drugs.
In relation to this event, it is worth recalling that in 2020, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) managed to seize around 400 kilograms of cocaine in a vehicle in Tapanatepec, Oaxaca.
