The León 450 Committee aims to promote projects that strengthen the economic and social development of the municipality, encouraging citizen participation and collaboration among various institutions. The initiative was announced by the municipal president, Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos, during the commemoration of the city's 449th anniversary on January 20, 2025. The León 450 Governing Council is responsible for laying the groundwork for the celebration of the anniversary in 2026.
During the ceremony that formalized the establishment of this council, the state governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, and the mayor, Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos, were present. The main objective of this citizen participation organization is to promote projects that improve the quality of life for the people of León and serve as a legacy for future generations.
Through the León 450 Committee, the municipal government seeks to foster family unity, the integral development of girls, boys, and adolescents, and the promotion of local culture and traditions. One of the public policies proposed under this initiative is the Green Pass, which allows free access to parks and recreational spaces in the city one day a week, in order to strengthen social fabric and improve the quality of life for residents.
The 450 Committee is composed of Mónica Pérez Dorsey, Graciela Rodríguez Flores, Luisa María Granados, Héctor Rodríguez Velázquez, Luis Ernesto Ayala Torres, and Allan León Aguirre. Ale Gutiérrez emphasized that León is the third most populous city in the country and has been recognized both nationally and internationally as a strong, competitive, lively, and vibrant city. This organization is created by the municipal government of León, Guanajuato, to plan and coordinate the celebrations for the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city, which will take place in 2026.
